Coach Doug Smith served the Arcadia High School Athletic Department as Head Track and Field coach, Head Varsity Football coach and as Athletic Director at different points in his career.  Coach Smith came to Arcadia in 1962 from the University of Redlands  where he played football and ran track for the "Bulldogs."   Coach Smith's 1976 Girls Varsity Track and Field squad captured the CIF Championship.  He was the  inspiration behind the Arcadia Invitaional and served as on- site manager for the 1984 Olympics Track and Field events and the 1984 National Track and Field Champiionships.
